Zella Jane Jackson

Zella Jane Jackson 98, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020 at her home with her family by her side.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2020 with Rev. Charles Hancock and  Rev. Eddie Jackson officiating, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

Zella was born December 28, 1921 in Wilburton, Oklahoma, to Delbert W. and Mary Evaline (Craig) Wall, she was a homemaker and worked at Duncan Regional Hospital and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Zella was married to Donald Jackson on June 2, 1940 in Santa Cruz, California, and to this union were born 4 sons: David, Jerry, Timothy and Roy, daughters; Donnett and Priscilla. She has been a resident of Duncan since 1971.

When Zella was 17 she left Oklahoma and moved to Santa Cruz, California. She met the love of her life Donald at a church service and was married at the age of 18! She lived with him for 48 years until the day of his death.

Zella was canary worker making apple pies, and picked fruit in the orchards. They raised their 6 children in Califorina. She returned to Oklahoma in 1971. She loved to sew, make quilts, and was a faithful member at Grace Chapel Pentecostal Church. Whenever you saw her even in her last days her smile never left her. Zella was greatly loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by all that knew her and was full of honesty and integrity. She was a strong believer in God and was faithful. She wanted everyone she came in contact with to find the Savior she loved with all her heart. Some of her last words were "Keep the faith," "keep fighting on and I will meet you by the river!"

Sister Jackson, you will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew you! 

Zella is survived by a daughters; Donnett (DeeDee) Nickell and her husband Harvey of Duncan, Oklahoma, sons; Timothy Eugene Jackson and his wife Bonnie of Henderson, Tenn., Roy DeWayne Jackson and his wife Linda of Henderson, Tenn. and a daughter-in-law; Janice Jackson of Duncan, Oklahoma, 28 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren.

Zella was preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents; Delbert W. & Mary Evaline Wall, sons; David Phillip Jackson, Jerry Lee Jackson, a daughter; Priscilla Evans and 12 brothers and sisters.
