Robert Martin Nichols, 59, of Duncan passed away on Wednesday March 29th in Oklahoma City after a brief illness. Robert was born May 17, 1963 in Shreveport, LA to Joe and Jean Nichols.
He grew up working in the family diner in Velma alongside his brothers. He was a 1981 graduate of Velma High School where he played basketball, ran track and he loved riding dirt bikes with his Dad and brothers. This led to his love of motorcycles and he eventually owned and rode a Harley Davidson and was a member of the American Iron Riders club. He worked in the oilfields around Velma and was an over-the-road truck driver. He married Janette Pearson on July 30th, 1987.
He is survived by two children, Jessica and Christopher Nichols, both of Duncan; his mother Jean Nichols of Duncan, brother David and his wife Susan of Duncan and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janette, father, Joe and brother, Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with Rocky Keck officiating, internment will following at Duncan Cemetery escorted by the Stephens County Patriot Guard Riders. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Nichols, David Nichols, nephews Aaron and Zackary Nichols, Caleb Gray, Mikie Hunt.
