Phyllis Lavell Williams, 76, of Duncan, was called home by her Lord and Savior July 2, 2021 with family by her side in Duncan, Oklahoma.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.. The services will be at New Beginnings Church with Rev. F. Ray Ledbetter and Rev. Johnny Gray officiating. Interment will be at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche. Services have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
The family will visit with friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Phyllis was born October 29, 1944 in Comanche, Oklahoma to Carl and Bernice Cooley. She attended Comanche Public Schools, where she graduated with the class of 1962. She married Bryan Williams on July 19, 1963 in Duncan. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Bryan and Phyllis lived in Altus, Oklahoma before moving to Houston, Texas then moved back to Duncan in 1980. She opened the Brides and Grooms Shoppe, which she co-owned from 1981-1995. During her time at the store, she was instrumental in assisting couples with their weddings. Phyllis was a lifetime member of Gospel Beams Church, and was currently attending Bethesda Church of God. One of her proudest accomplishments was participating in multiple missionary trips to Haiti. After retiring, she and Bryan spent their time actively involved in their grandchildren's lives and enjoying vacations all over the world.
Phyllis was met in Heaven by her parents; Carl and Bernice Cooley, her husband,; Bryan Williams, a daughter; Sheila Williams, a granddaughter; Gabrielle Jackson, and a brother-in-law; Mark Carey.
She is survived by her son; Gary Williams of Duncan, her daughter; Kathy Hatley and her husband Jesse of Gibson, Tennessee, six grandchildren; Kalie Williams Michel and her husband Lee of Marlow, Oklahoma, Alyson Williams of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Austin Williams of Duncan, Oklahoma, Cody Jackson of Bradford, Tennessee, Zackary Jackson and Andrew Jackson , both of Gibson, Tennessee, two great-grandchildren; Lane and Brylee Michel of Marlow, Oklahoma, three sisters; Darlene Pratt and husband Buck of Comanche, Oklahoma, LaDonna Shults and husband Jack of Canadian, Oklahoma, and Rhonda Beck and her husband Steve of Edmond, Oklahoma, one sister-in-law; Stella Cary of Katy, Texas and several aunts, uncles, nieces,nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Gary Williams, Austin Williams, Cody Jackson, Jesse Hatley, Lee Michel, Jeff Pratt, Michael Pratt, and Lyndol Shults. Honorary Pallbearers are Zackary Jackson and Andrew Jackson.
