Phyllis A. Routon

On Monday, November 14, Phyllis Ann Routon, beloved Mother and Grandmother, went home to be with her Lord. She is preceded in death by husband L. Kenneth Routon, and Son, Gary L. Routon.

Born to parents Maude and Verna C. Algrim of Montezuma Kansas, Phyllis married Kenneth Routon from Fowler Kansas in 1949.  Phyllis pursued her lifelong love of music in Haviland Kansas at Friends Bible Academy/Friends Bible College (now known as Barkly College). Phyllis performed the lead role as Queen Ester. Performing “The Holy City” became a tradition with her each year at Easter time.

After college, Phyllis began the life long journey of supporting her Husband and family as they entered the pastorate and ended up pastoring 6 different Friends Churches across Kansas, Oklahoma, and Iowa.  Along the way Phyllis had six children. Rodney, Gary, Denise, Martin, Carrie, and Tracy.

To date, Phyllis has 16 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, and just recently, a new born Great-Great Grandchild.

Phyllis’s civic duties include local Cub Scout Den Mother, actively supporting both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, decades of volunteer service to local Hospitals, Nursing Homes, and also opened her home to foster care for those in need.  Personal hobbies include her masterful art of hand sewn quilts.

God’s grace and unending love does prevail. The day before Phyllis’s Heavenly departure, she was heard singing, “All I Need Is Jesus” at the end of her daily devotions.  True Grit.  True Polish.  True Love.  Phyllis Routon.

Memorial services will be Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Bible Methodist Church at 281356 E. 1780 Rd. Duncan, Oklahoma.
