Myra Evelyn McManus Williams, 87, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at her home in Duncan after a brief illness.
Evelyn was born July 20, 1934 in Mountian View, Oklahoma the youngest of 5 children, to Ira McManus and Rosa Belle Odom McManus.
Survivors include two daughters, Terrie Tomlinson of Tuttle, Oklahoma and Suzanne Bilbrey of Ovalo, Texas. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Waco Tomlinson and partner Amy Rust of Mustang, Oklahoma and Kendra Bilbrey and partner Jimmy West of Snyder, Texas, and two great grandchildren, Cash Tomlinson and Evelyn Tomlinson of Mustang, Oklahoma.
Evelyn graduated from Bray High School and attended Duncan Business College. She worked at Duncan Savings and Loan beore she married Jack Newton Williams on June 17, 1954. She was a co-owner with Jack of Shortline Sales, a family business and also was Secretary of Stephens County Conservation District for 7 years. They operated a cow calf operation on a ranch on Beaver Creek for many years. Throughout her life, she enjoyed flower gardening and geneology research keeping in touch with many relatives over the years, even many second and third cousins. She also was a dedicated Christian enjoying fellowship with New Hope Baptist Church as a charter member, and specifically, the Beacon Class where she was extremely active over the last years.
Funeral services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022, followed by a private interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens held later that day. Arrangments have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
