Larry Beshirs Obituary

Larry Dale Beshirs passed away peacefully into heaven, with his loving wife by his side, at his home on November 21, 2021. Larry was born August 14, 1954 to Jimmy and Martha (Adamson) Beshirs in Durant, Oklahoma.

He married the love of his life, Marsha Ruth Booth on February 23, 2003. Larry and Marsha were married with good friend, Debbie Wanzer, by their side in Kona, Hawaii. Kona, Hawaii, riding Larry's Harley motorcyles with dear friends, and spending time at their son's house boat on Lake Eufaula were Larry and Marsha's favorite vacations.

He was a Chickasaw Warrior and very proud of being a native  American. He also served his country with dignity and grace in the U.S. Army as a Specialist 4th Class Germany 8th Infantry Division from 1971-1974. He was a patriot and had a special place in his heart knowing he was a United States Veteran. Larry was a member of the DAV, VFW, and American Legion.

He was always looking to empower people in his Christian Life. He was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church, Duncan, Oklahoma. His love for gospel singing and his singing talent were shown when he often sang at Bible Baptist Church.

He worked for Halliburton for 22 years and various other oil companies. The last 6 years were spent working along side his son Mickey Sean Lassiter in the construction business in Oklahoma City. He worked with Mickey until his health forced him to retire.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife Marsha, son Mickey Sean Lassiter, grandsons Tucker and Brock Lassiter. He is also survived by siblings which he loved dearly; brothers Pastor Joe Beshirs and wife Ruth Ann, Hershel Levine and wife Mila, Donald Ray Beshirs and wife Beverly, sisters Linda Sue Caraway and Mary Kathryn Adcock. Larry is also survived by many nieces, nephews and life long friends that he loved and was proud of.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Martha Beshirs; brother-in-laws, John C. Caraway and Max Adcock.

Pallbearers will be Alex Beshirs, Jason Beshirs, Victor Caraway, John Wayne Caraway, Tucker Lassiter and Michael Beshirs. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ethan Beshirs.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Taylor officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research, St. Jude's Hospital and Stephens County Animal Society.
