LaDonna Belle Woodard was born September 3, 1927 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Roy Lee and Laura Lavada (Trammell) Woodard. At the age of 3 her family moved to Duncan, Oklahoma which has been her home ever since. She attended Lee Elementary and Duncan High School.'

In her early teens, she met the love of her life, W. A. (Ardene) Chasteen, when his family moved across the street from her. They married on October 31, 1944. They were(in her words) "blessed with three beautiful children". At the time of his passing in 2007, they had been married for 63 years.

She loved to entertain and cooking was her hobby, God, family and church were very important to her. LaDonna and Ardene where charter members of Gospel Beams Church, where for several years they served as youth leaders. They enjoyed having the young people at their house for bonfires, weenie roasts and hayrides. She also played "match maker" a few times. Later in years she joined the ladies group at Bethel Assembly of God. She had a compassion for people that needed help and would pray for everyone.
