LaDonna Belle (Woodard) Chasteen
LaDonna Belle Woodard was born September 3, 1927 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Roy Lee and Laura Lavada (Trammell) Woodard. At the age of 3 her family moved to Duncan, Oklahoma which has been her home ever since. She attended Lee Elementary and Duncan High School.'
In her early teens, she met the love of her life, W. A. (Ardene) Chasteen, when his family moved across the street from her. They married on October 31, 1944. They were(in her words) "blessed with three beautiful children". At the time of his passing in 2007, they had been married for 63 years.
She loved to entertain and cooking was her hobby, God, family and church were very important to her. LaDonna and Ardene where charter members of Gospel Beams Church, where for several years they served as youth leaders. They enjoyed having the young people at their house for bonfires, weenie roasts and hayrides. She also played "match maker" a few times. Later in years she joined the ladies group at Bethel Assembly of God. She had a compassion for people that needed help and would pray for everyone.
On September 28, 2020 as one hospice nurse said, she peacefully broke the bonds of earth and is free to soar with the angels and has gone to see her Savior. She is reunited with her love, Ardene and her parents, a brother; O.L. (Bub) and two sisters; Eurdora (Hugh) Dixon and Aletha (Jeff) McGuire, a son-in-law; John Curry and a sister-in-law; Carolyn Woodard in her heavenly home for a joyous reunion.
She left behind her two daughters; Linda (Larry) Kruckenberg of Florida, Debra Curry of Duncan and a son; Terry (Ruthie) Chasteen also of Duncan. Four grandsons; Ken Kruckenberg of Florida, Eric (Bridgett) Chasteen, Chad Chasteen, and Aaron (Michelle) Curry all of Duncan. Six great-grandchildren; Ayden Curry, Bodie and Zac Lane, Lindsey (Cody) Walker, Shelby and Koby Midgley and six great-great grandchildren. Also a sister; Velda (Bob) Towell and a brother; Roy (Bea) Woodard, plus her sister-in-law; Betty Lewis and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
Services have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Home. Family visitations will be held Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral home. Services will be at Bethel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ron Meadors officiating, Friday, October 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. and interment will be at the Duncan Cemetery.
