James Caroll White of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away on August 25, 2023. He was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on August 11, 1948 to Kreth and Dorothy White.
Jim worked his way through college working part time for Halliburton’s and playing in a band on weekends. He played by ear and played the keyboard, pipe organ, mandalin, and drums. While in college the band he played in was a warmup band for the “5 Americans” who were in concert.
Jim graduated from Duncan High School in 1966 and later graduated from Cameron University in 1970 with a degree in Business and Economics. After graduation he married Gretchen Williamson on August 15, 1970. To this union, two children were born, Richmond in 1974 and Andrea in 1976.
In his free time he loved going to all the kids and grandkids activities and sports and was one of their biggest fans. He so loved being called a “Papa” for his grandkids and wasn’t shy about telling you about it.
He loved his fur baby “Bella” he often referred to her as his “service dog” She stayed by his side day and night. He loved playing golf and hunting on the farm. When his health failed, he could no longer do what he loved so much.
He worked for Halliburton’s for 38 years and when he retired in 2007 he was the Global Commodity Manager and went on to work two more years at CES Chemicals as the Purchasing Manager. His accomplishments through out his life while working were, SME (subject matter expert), Halliburton proppants and cement Prolog teams, Co-founder of Halliburton Strategic Supply Department, Chairman of the Acid team. Chairman of Chemical Resource group, and Toastmasters CTM.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Kreth and Dorothy White, in-laws; Howard and Doris Williamson, brother-in-law; Gary Williamson, and son-in-law; Jason VanOven.
He is survived by his wife; Gretchen of the home, sister; Patti Dahnke and her husband Keith, sister-in-law; Cheryl Williamson, son; Richmond White, daughter; Andrea Ramsey and her husband Jamie, grandson; Tyler VanOven, granddaughter; Baylee VanOven, and several nieces and nephews.
Thank you so much to David and Sherry Pack for the last two trips, one on and Alaska Cruise and a trip to Jackson Hole. Without you two and your help, we would have never made it on our own. Love you two.
Services are entrusted to Carter-Smart Funeral Home with visitation on August 28, 2023 at 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home and funeral services willbe at the First Baptist Church in Duncan on August 29, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Billy Morgan officiating and interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Terral Cemetery in Terral, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be David Pack, Billy Wilson, Tyler VanOven, Jamie Ramsey, Bobby Dodson and Honorary Pallbearer Randy Burum.
