James E. (Jet) Tinney

James E. (Jet) Tinney, 90, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Lawton -   Ft. Sill Veterans Center.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Metheny officiating, interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Family visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

James was born March 21, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Benjamin F. & Bonnie (Griggs) Tinney, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and he had worked for the City of Duncan, OK Tire and Battison. James married Carolyn on March 14, 1976 and she preceded him in death in 2008. James is survived by his son’s; Jim Tinney and his wife Earileen of Duncan, Oklahoma, Wayne Tinney & his wife Susan of Duncan, Oklahoma and David Crabtree of Alaska, daughter’s; Virginia Reynolds of Eastland, Texas, ReNae Dobbins & her husband Rob of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Pam Ming & her husband Tim of Coyle, Oklahoma, Becky Gray of Jenks, Oklahoma, sisters; Alice Gallop & her husband Jerry of Loco, Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, son’s; Ben Tinney and David Tinney, daughter’s; Twila Youngblood and Bonnie Miller, a brother; Russell Tinney and sister’s; Pat Polk and Pearl Hines.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Military Honors will be provided by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
