Inez Best Dodson
Inez Best Dodson 93, of Duncan, Oklahoma, peacefully passed from this life on December 10, 2020. She was in her warm bed with her daughter by her side when she died.
Inez was born on Thursday, August 11, 1927, to Howard Kenneth Best and Dortha Reynolds Best in Comanche, Oklahoma. Inez worked many years as a switchboard operator for Southwester Bell and Alma Telephone Company. She finished her career working for the City of Midland, Texas, in the Tax Office.
Known as Meemaw to most, Inez loved to cook and everyone loved to eat her cooking. She made the best fried chicken, black walnut cake, and homemade ice cream you ever tasted. She loved her family and was looked to as the family matriarch as time grew on. She loved her family, and her family loved and respected. She helped organize many of the Best Family Reunions with her sisters, especially in the beginning. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Lubbock, Texas, and the West Texas Gadabouts.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Loyd William Dodson, brothers; Glen Best and John Kenneth Best, sisters; Verlon Williams and Thelma Sawyer.
Inez is survived by her sister; Rosalee Tidwell of Comanche, Oklahoma, her son; Jerry Don Boydston of Longview, Texas, her daughter; Diann Roberts of Duncan, Oklahoma, granddaughter; Leah Nichole Clements of Lubbock, Texas, grandson; Stephen Ray Parton of White Oak, Texas. Inez is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews, cousins and life-long friend Beverly Grigsby.
A memorial services will be held for Inez in July, 2021, at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home in Duncan, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December, 14, 2020 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Rev. Randy Southland presiding. Visitation will be Monday, December 14, 2020 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home. All are welcome and please wear a mask.
