Imogene Hudson Obituary

The legacy of a life is not determined by the things left behind, but by the impact on others. By that standard, Jean leaves a wealth beyond measure. During her life well-lived, she was a beautiful, selfless woman who touched the hearts of many and gifted us endless happy memories.

Jean Hudson, 87, of Duncan passed away June 13, 2022, at her home with her family at her side. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church at 380 S. 42nd. St. in Duncan, Oklahoma, with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating; interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

The family will recieve friends on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Born in Ravia, Oklahoma in 1935 to Tim B. and Bessie (Martin) Graham, Jean's family moved to Duncan while she was in high school. She worked at C.R. Anthony's where an older co-worker convinced her to go on a blind date with Truman Hudson because he was from a "good family." It was definitely not love at first sight, but eventually he won her heart and bested her other suitors. They wed in 1955 and moved to Stillwater while he attended OSU. She worked at a bank to put him through veterinary school and after he graduated they returned to Duncan to start their family. They were married for 52 amazing years until his death in 2007.

She devoted her talents to caring for her family and supporting their activities. She made costumes for dance recitals and plays, helped collect insects for 4-H projects, groomed show steers, and attended every football, softball, baseball, and basketball game, and wrestling match, her children played. She was a home-room mom who attended field trips, pep rallies, fundraisers and most every event at Empire School. Largely through her efforts, her children excelled and all went to college (Oklahoma State of course) and became a director of construction, attorney, teacher, and veterinarian.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Truman, her parents, and her brother, Tim Roger Graham.

She is survived by her children; Robert and his wife Dianne of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jean Ann and her husband Brad Howard of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shelly and her husband Dan Hollingsworth of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Michael and his wife Lisa of Duncan, Oklahoma. She was the beloved GMom to Matthew, Justin, Elise, Evan, Brent, Lance, Abbie, Bryce, Jerad, and Nathan, and great-grandchildren; Evie, Kaytlin, and Brooklyn. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law; Geraldine Graham of Wilson, Oklahoma, nieces, nephews, and their families, and Tom Zigler as part of her chosen family.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

The family would like to thank her special caregiver friends, Wanda and Melissa, as well as the staff of Chisholm Trail Hospice.
