Glen Owens

     Glen Owens 88, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Veterans Center in Lawton, Oklahoma.

    
     Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Road To Eternity 1605 Nth. 5th. with Rev. Dean Hall officiating, interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

    Glen was born in Marionville, Missouri May 17, 1929 to Virgil and Eliza Faye (Friesner) Owens. Glen was a World War ll veteran. He was stationed in Japan and drove Bulldozers for the U.S. Army in Korea during the war. He married Harliene Smith on September 23, 1949. To this union was born three daughters; Glenda, Rhonda and Tereasa. He owned Owens Family Shoe Store in the 60's and 70's. He also worked in the oil fields. He married Martha Holland in June 1998 in Aurora, Missouri. He loved to dance, and he Martha sometimes attended dances in Miami, Oklahoma five times a week. He bragged about dancing five miles some nights. He loved his fried potatoes and gravy and ate them practically every night. He was cared for the last six months of his life by the caring staff of the Veterans Center in Lawton.   

     Glen is survived by his three daughters; Glenda McBride and her husband Gerald of Duncan, Oklahoma, Rhonda Williams and her husband Bobby of Duncan, Oklahoma, Tereasa Vachon and her husband Tom of Duncan, Oklahoma, sisters; Jenny Lucille McNeill of Kansas City, Missouri, Juanita Haley of Aurora, Missouri and Shirley Sue Burbank of Kansas, brothers; Albert Owens of Houston, Texas, Gary Owens of Monet, Missouri, grandchildren; Janey Gordon and her husband Chad of Fletcher, Oklahoma, Amy Dyer  of Duncan, Oklahoma, Rocky Dyer and his wife Stacie of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, Rikki Jade Stewart of Oklahoma City, and Amanda Corey and her husband Paul of Portland, Oregon, great-grandchildren; Dylan Elliott, Mason McGuire, Bradyn Elliott, Reese McGuire, Ethan Dyer and Logan Dyer.     

     He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Martha, sisters; Anna Mae Snider, and Bertha Faye Newton, brothers; Ilo, Everett, and art Owens, grandson; Zachary Stewart and granddaughter; JJ(Ray).

     Pallbearers will be Bobby Williams, Rocky Dyer, Tom Vachon, Gerald McBride, Mason McGuire an Bradyn Elliott. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Elliott, Ryan Elliott, Roy Pokorney and Jack Hulme.

     Military Honors will be presented by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
