Georgia Jean Jennings
Georgia Jean Jennings was born December 31, 1932 in Velma, Oklahoma to Richard Lewis Newman and Othel Naomi Newman. Jean went to her heavenly home on September 4, 2023.
Jean graduated from Empire High School. She married the love of her life, William Gene Jennings, on August 2, 1952. Since the couple shared the same middle name, friends often referred to them as “He Gene” and “She Gene”. The couple were members of Eastside Church of Christ. They settled in Duncan where Jean worked for Haggar Slacks many years. They had one child, Dale Wayne Jennings, born in 1954. Jean enjoyed being a homemaker, spending time at Lake Texhoma, playing cards and dominoes with her lifelong friends. She was loved by everyone she met, well-known as the life of the party, and had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include her son; Dale Jennings and his wife Patty of Duncan, a brother-in-law; Roy Jennings and his wife Merlina of Lake Humphreys, sister-in-law; Jackie Jennings of Duncan and sister-in-law; Barbara Stiles of Wichita Falls, Texas, a grandson; Brad Jennings and his wife Candice of Jacksonville, Florida, granddaughter; Courtney Jennings of Jacksonville, Florida, Julie Nagy of Stratford, Oklahoma, and Kimberly Kelly of Yukon, Oklahoma, great-grandchildren; Bryce Jennings, Bella Jennings, Cambryn Jennings, and Gracie Kelly, and a great-great-granddaughter; Abigail Jennings plus a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; Lewis and Othel; her husband; Gene, her sisters; Kathryn, Shirley and Betty, her brothers; James & Roy, and great-grandson; Truman Deeb.
There will be a celebration of Jean’s life at Eastside Church of Christ on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 10:00a.m. with Ron Stough officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Friends are invited to gather in the home of Dale and Patty Jennings 2616 W. Beech, on Thursday afternoon anytime between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m.
