Eddie Bates, 79, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Country Club Care in Duncan.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Eastside Church of Christ with Ron Stough officiating, interment will follow at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Military Honors will be provided by the Stephens County Honor Guard and the Stephens County Patriot Guard Riders.

Family Visitation will be Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

Eddie was born on Friday, August 6, 1943 in Duncan, Oklahoma to David & Nona (Byrum) Bates, he attended Empire School and graduated from Empire High School in 1961, he was a veteran of the U. S. Army National Guard, and worked in Duncan at the Refinery until its closing and moved to Broken Arrow and worked at the Refinery in Tulsa until his retirement, and moved back to Duncan in July 2022. Eddie & Linda were members of Whispering Hills Church of Christ in Broken Arrow and North Side Church of Christ in Duncan. Eddie married Linda Baker on September 28, 1968 in Duncan, and to that union were born 3 son’s; Jason, David and Stephen.

He is survived by his wife; Linda of the home, sons; Jason Bates & his wife Lori of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, David Bates & his wife Kathy of Interlachen, Florida and Stephen Bates of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, sister; Donna Bridgman & her husband Larry of Duncan, Oklahoma. Grandchildren; Christian Bates & his wife Cheri, Christina Bates, Claudia Bates, Sarah Bates and Corrie Bates and a great-Grandchild Emory Rose Bates.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents David & Nona Bates and a brother; Dennis Bates.
