Doyle Frost Obituary

Doyle Dean Frost , 93 of Duncan, passed from this life and entered eternity on May 8, 2021.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2021 at the Duncan Cemetery with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

Dean was born at home in Hastings, Oklahoma to Ollie & Marie (Dunning) Frost on Saturday, October 8, 1927, where he spent the formative years of his life. His parents moved the family to a farm southwest of Waurika, very near the Red River. He then attended Sugden School through the 8th. grade. At the age of 13 the sprit of adventure was born and he hitch-hiked to California with some of his cousins. Finding life harder than expected, he came home only to repeat the adventure again a few years later.

By the age of 17, he was experienced traveler and ready to settle down. He married Bonnie Faye Reid on October 21, 1944, took up farming and started a family of four children. In the early 1950's, Dean took a truck-driving job with Halliburton and retired there after more than 20 years. He then raised cattle and parakeets for the next 20 years. He always enjoyed gardening and once said " as long as I can crawl outside, I will have a garden." He liked to play pitch with his kids and grandkids for a quarter a game and a quarter a hickey, camping at area lakes and teaching his kids how to water-ski. Dean always enjoyed visits from his 5 grandkids, 6 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandkids. Dean was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Dean is survived by 3 daughters;  Genevra and Gerald Bechtel of Duncan, Shiela and Tiny Spurlock of Duncan, and Nancy Frost of Ada, Oklahoma. Also, grandchildren; Jerry and Lori Bechtel of Duncan, Jenna Adkisson of Knob Noster, Missouri, and Joseph and Jenna Bechtel of Duncan, Jim and Pam Spurlock of Marlow, Oklahoma, and Bobbie and Doug DeMaio of Prattville, Alabama, 6 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, and many more family and friends.

Dean was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie of 55 years, his only son, Robert (Bobby) who was killed in action while serving his country in Viet Nam, his parents Ollie & Marie Frost and his elder brother, Calvin Earl Frost.
