Doris Fern Tuck Holbrook

Doris Fern Tuck Holbrook, the youngest of four children, was born in Mounds, Oklahoma, on January 26, 1916, to William Tuck and Bertha Howerton Tuck. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Holbrook, both parents, two sisters, Hazel Tuck Boneham, Opal Tuck Taylor and one brother, Clifford Tuck. She is survived by daughter, Susan Clinkenbeard of Edmond, Oklahoma, two granddaughters, Elizabeth Zeigler of Edmond, Oklahoma and Heather Tipton of Shawnee, Oklahoma, one niece, Patricia Taylor Thompson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, two nephews, Ronald Taylor or Vidor, Texas, and Kent Taylor of Houston, Texas. She has eight great-grandchildren and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

While attending Bristow High School in Bristow, Oklahoma, she worked as a ticket attendant at the Bristow Movie Theater. After graduation, she worked at a local bank. She married James Holbrook in 1947 and worked in his family floral shop, Holbrook Flowers, on the corner of Fifteenth and Main in Duncan, Oklahoma. She has been a longtime resident of Duncan, and active member of Westside Christian Church, living out her later years at Elk Crossing Nursing Home. She was a lover of walking, reading, crossword puzzles, the Bible, and Dr. Pepper. Our precious Doris gained her reward on Thursday, January 20, 2022, and soared into the outstretched arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was surely a celebration to be reunited with those loved ones who preceded her, just shy of her 106th birthday.

There will be a celebration of her life at Duncan Municipal Cemetery, 1910 Cypress Avenue, Duncan, Oklahoma, on January 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
