Debra Worley Obituary

Debra Worley 62, of Waurika, Oklahoma died May 25, 2021 at her home in Waurika.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Waurika, with Rev. Rusty Stowe and Rev. Bruce Humphries officiating, interment will follow at the Waurika Cemetery, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

Debra Ann Kafer was born December 27, 1958 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Richard and Vella Mae (Talbott) Kafer. She grew up in Ryan and Waurika area graduating from Ryan High School in 1977. In 1982 she graduated from the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha with a Bachelor of Science and Arts Degree in Psychology/Sociology. On June 8, 1984 Debra married the "Love of her life" Willis C. Worley Jr. and they made their home in Waurika.

Mrs. Worley started her medical caree right after her high school graduation. Her first job was at Jefferson County Hospital where she continued to work during summer breaks from full-time college classes. After her college graduation she went to work for Dr. Bruce Ferrell, M.D. at the Medical Clinic in Waurika. Over the years she worked with many new and established physicians as their office nurse and lab tech. In 1994 Debra was promoted to Rual Health Management with Comanche County Memorial Hospital's Administration. She managed the staff and supervised the daily routines for 18 rual clinics in Southwest Oklahoma. The last 3 years was spent working for the Clinics of North Texas Cardiology Department before retiring to travel with her husband in 2001. She had been active in the community and had served as vice-president and president of Waurika United Fund. Debra was named one of America's Top Young Women in 1985 by a group of her collegiate peers.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 12 at Irving Baptist Church. On September 30, 1984 she moved her membership to Waurika First Baptist Church to serve her Lord and Savior alongside her husband. She served as the General Secretary for Sunday School for over 10 years. At the time of her death she was chairman for the funeral dinner committe, served on the finance committee and was a department Sunday School Secretary. Debra and her husband were members of the "Fellowship of Christians & Jews" and have sponsored the return of ten Russian Jews to Israel. (Jeremiah 32:37).

Debra loved the outdoors and nature especially fishing, gardening and traveling. She loved working in her yard, watching the hummingbirds and growing colorful flowers. She and her husband had the opportunities to visit such places as Australia, Germany, Italy, Egypt, Greece, Aruba, Barbados, the Panama Canal, Costa Tica, New Zealand, Ireland and Israel.

Mrs. Worley is survived by two sisters; Linda Cain and Sandra McMillen, one brother; Mike Kafer, one niece; LaWayna Alvarado, one nephew; Landon Michell, step-daughter; Carmen Perkins, step-son; Chris Worley, two step-grandaughters; Karis Dick and Loren Holman, five step-great-grandchildren; Trevin, Jaxen and Harper Dick and Layla and Hunter Holman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one step-daughter; Heather Harris.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the Pancreatic CAncer Society for research or Hospice of your choice.

Visitation will be at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday in Duncan and the First Baptist Church in Waurika on Friday morning from 10:30 a.m until service time.
