Willoe Mae Waldroop

Willoe Mae (Gold) Waldroop was born June 17, 1926 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma to Kenneth and Nancy "Louise" Gold. She was surrounded in love by her family as she passed on October 25, 2024 in Duncan, Oklahoma.

She attended school in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma and graduated in 1942 at the age of 15 years old. At 16 years old, she moved to Oklahoma City and attended business school. Upon graduation, she moved to Hobart, Oklahoma where she worked for several doctors, lawyers as a legal secretary. She also worked as a medical transcriptionist at Clinton Regional Hospital and retired at 80 years old.

In April of 1947, she met Flois Waldroop and they wed on October 4, 1947. From this union two children were born, a son Ken Waldroop and a daughter Brenda (Waldroop) Morris.

Willoe Mae was humble and one of the most unselfish people in many ways. She supported and loved her family unconditionally. She helped raise her grandchildren, and was always quick to help others financially, but did not want any credit for it. She was joyful, quick-witted, kept up with current events and always ready to share a lesson or joke. She was a serious Christian and studied her Bible fervently. In leu of attending church services, she was a faithful watcher of preachers in TBN. She was a gifted musician, and continued to play her piano through her final days. She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing at church and for special events. She was a member of the Joy Choir in Clinton, Oklahoma and traveled across the country performing.When speaking to her granddaughter, Willoe Mae said, "I have really had a good life." She will be missed by her family and others whose lives she touched un her 98 years.

Willoe Mae was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and "Louise" Gold, sister; Doris Gold, her husband; Flois Waldroop and two great-great grandsons.

She is survived by her daughter; Brenda (Waldroop) Morris , and son-in-law; Steven Morris, whom she lived with the last ten years of her life, and their daughters; Jodi Morris, Heather Morris and Jennifer Morris. Her son: Ken Waldroop and his children; Elizabeth Waldroop, Emily Waldroop and Daniel Waldroop, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Port Cemetery in Port, Oklahoma with Jimmy Dale Morris officiating, arrangements are under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
