Obituary

Wat Wilson 92, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Lawton-Ft. Sill Veterans Center in Lawton. Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m.Friday, November 18, 2022 at the Loco Cemetery with Rev. Dean & Freda Hall officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors. Wat was born to William & Mary T. (Mitchell) Wilson on February 23, 1930 in Sudan, Texas, he grew up in County Line and various places in Stephens County where his father worked in the oil fields, he moved to Duncan in the early 1940's. Wat joined the Marines, April 11, 1947, made PFC and was stationed on Guam wher Japanese were in caves and did't know that W.W. II had ended, he was discharged December 15, 1948 due to medical reasons, he worked for Halliburtons, roughnecked in the oil fields in the Local area, became a drilling Bit Retipper, he invented a bit washing machine, owned and operated a alternator- generator shop at 5th. and Camelback, he raised parakeets for some years & retired in 2017, after it became difficult for him to walk and entered a nursing home for a short time and then moved to the Lawton-Ft. Sill Veterans Center in Lawton, where he spent his last several years. He attended Road to Eternity Church pastored by Dean & Freda Hall in Duncan, Oklahoma. Survivors include brother; Billy Wilson & his wife Betty  of Anadarko, Oklahoma, nephews; Joel of Andover, Kansas, Justin L. & wife Amanda of Rockwell, Texas and Cory of Ada, Oklahoma, nieces; Carla Mclemore & husband Clay of Colony, Oklahoma, Pamela Morgan & her husband Keith, Paula Brown & husband Lonnie of Ninnekah, Oklahoma. he was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Visa Ross, and brothers; Jot of Wichita, Kansas and Zade of Duncan, Oklahoma.
