Robert G. Terry

Robert George Terry, 72 , loving husband and father died Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Robert was born February 16, 1946 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He proudly served the U.S. Navy for 5 years and the U.S. Army for 23 years. In the military, he served as a combat engineer. He retired from the military in 1991 after 28 years of service and moved back to Duncan, Oklahoma where he served his community as a referee for football and an umpire for baseball. He enjoyed watching OU football, being outside golfing, mowing laws, and going to flea markets. He was a devout follower of Christ and a member of Bethesda Church of God.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vononda Beth (Sager) Terry , Duncan, Oklahoma; daughter; Monica (Krissy) Elgin and husband Jack of Eufaula, Oklahoma, son; Kyle Lee Terry and wife Susan of Owasso, Oklahoma, daughter; Brittney Farkas and husband Ryan of Naperville, lL; grandchildren, Mya, Jake and Audrey Terry and great-grandchildren, Alex and Logan Farkas; two brothers; Frank Short of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Jim Short of Collinsville, Oklahoma; a sister; Mary Perryman of Pasadena, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Belle Reed; sisters; Florence Shipman, Betty Marrow and Nona Riley and grandson, Jarred Hendrix.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Gospel Beams Church in Duncan, Oklahoma with Rev. Ray Ledbetter and Brother Edward Jackson will officiate. Interment will be at the Duncan Cemetery and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Military Honors will be performed by the U.S. Army from Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
