Obituary

Dad was born May 2, 1936 and left this world Sunday, July 19, 2026. He closed his eyes here and met Mom at the top of the stairway to Heaven.

Born to R.D. and Minnie Rochell Waurika, Oklahoma, Robert grew up learning hard work, discipline, and nurturing.

Robert was a lifelong machinist who dedicated his career to both his craft and teaching others. He began his career locally at Halliburton before moving to Kansas, where he worked in the aircraft industry at Cessna for approximately 10 years. During his time there, he was instrumental in the development of the Cessna Citation jet.

He eventually returned home to Duncan and became an instructor at Red River Vo-Tech, where he mentored and inspired many students who when on to successful careers in the machining industry. While teaching, Robert founded Rochell Machine in Duncan in 1973, building a business that he proudly operated until his retirement.

Robert married Wilma June Willson on October 30, 1954, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Together, they had a wonderful group of boys; Dale, Jimmy, Jack, and Brad. Robert loved his family and he and Wilma made sure they had all they needed, raising them to be good, strong, Christian men.

Eventually, they were blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert was proud of each and every one.

He is preceded in death by his parents, R.D. and Minnie Rochell; and his wife, Wilma. He is survived by his sons; Dale and wife Janell, of Marlow, OK; Jimmy and wife Robin, of Duncan, OK; Jack and wife Cindy, of Duncan, OK; and Brad and wife Tammy, of Weatherford, TX.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Robert’s care has been entrusted to Carter-Smart Funeral Directors. The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 27, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home. His service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, at 10:00 am at Ray of Hope Church with Reverend Lynn Parkhurst and Reverend Matt Chambers officiating.
