He was preceded by Kathryn Sue Lane (spouse) and David Lane (son). Robert had twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Born in Duncan, Oklahoma on May 2, 1930, Robert was the 11th of twelve children born to Minnie and Joseph Henry Lane. He graduated from Duncan HS and attended Oklahoma State University before discovering Petroleum Engineering and transferring to pursue a degree from the University of Oklahoma. He remained a lifelong OU Sooner fan, even after he moved to Texas. He married high school sweetheart, Kathryn Sue Martin in 1952, and raised five children together while living in Oklahoma and Louisiana with most of their married life living in Edmond, OK.
Following his career in the oil and gas industry, Robert and Sue traveled by RV to meet old friends and make new ones, before settling in Kerrville. After Sue's passing, Robert found love again at age 83, when he met Phyllis Ramsey, through a mutual friend. They married in 2014 and shared life in Kerrville between cruises in the Caribbean.
