Malba Harwell, 90 of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Country Club Care Nursing Home, with her family at her side.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Taylor officiating, interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery, and arrangments have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

Melba was born in Larmar, Oklahoma, on Novemeber 29, 1930 to Virgil & Lucille (Phillips) Smith. She worked in the fabric department at TG&Y and Walmart until she retired. She loved to sew especially quilts. She loved her Lord and was a member of Bible Baptist Church since 1950. Melba married Leroy Harwell on June 3, 1950. They moved to Duncan at that time.

She is survived by her son; Michael Harwell and his wife Vonda of Comanche, Oklahoma and a daughter; Janice Owings of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Also by 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Melba was preceded in death by her husband; Leroy Harwell, and a daughter; Barbara. She was also preceded in death by her parents; Virgil and Lucille Smith, also brothers; Louis Smith and Donnie Smith.
