Lawanda Gray 76 of Comanche, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Corum Baptist Church, with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating, interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma, and arrangements have been entrusted to family care of Carter-smart Funeral Home.

Family visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Lawanda was born September 21, 1940 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to William Leroy and Vera Belle "Dill" Wyatt, she grew up in Purcell, Paul's Valley and Healdton area. She married the love of her life Dennis Gray on July 5, 1957 in Duncan, Oklahoma. She and Dennis moved their family to Comanche in March 1964 and made their home in Comanche. Lawanda worked in the school cafeteria at Grandview School and worked for Hagger Slacks in Temple and Duncan and for Mo Betta Shirts, and she was a member of the Oak College Homemakers Club.

She was an award winning cook and seamstress, she loved shopping and traveling with Dennis and the kids and grandkids, she loved decorating for the holiday's and collected yard art and souvenirs from all their travels. She was a member of the Baptist Church, she loved church music and sang in the church choir when she was younger.

Survivors include her husband; Dennis of the home, a son; Michael David Gray and his wife Cindy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a daughter; Vera Denise Pitts and her husband Alan of Comanche, Oklahoma, a brother; Ronald Wyatt of Athens, Texas and a sister; Billie Joyce Walker of Cleburne, Texas. Seven grandchildren; Kara 7 Jeff Ellison of Norman, Oklahoma, Aaron & Melanie Gray of Henderson, Nevada, Scott and Brett Pitts of Comanche, Oklahoma, Matthew Pitts of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Lawanda was preceded in death by her parents; William & Vera Wyatt and brothers; Joe & Robert Wyatt.

Pallbearers will be Robert Gray, Dennis Gray, Steve Hayden, Braylen Rogers, Ron Crook and Bobby King.
