IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnnie Mae
Hare
September 24, 1934 – November 11, 2025
Johnnie Mae Hare was called home by our Heavenly Father on November 11, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on September 24, 1934, in Corum, OK to Lois and Carl "Bud" Calame. She was raised in Corum with her five siblings and graduated from Comanche High School, where she was celebrated as the football queen.
Johnnie married Bob Hare in 1955 and had four children in their 53-year marriage. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who took great joy in caring for her family. She raised three generations of Hare family children and had a special place in her heart for them as evidenced by the artwork on her fridge! She was the hostess for all holiday meals and a fantastic cook. We all cherish the memories of hunting eggs on Easter Sundays at Grandma's house! In addition, she retired from Halliburton where she worked in the accounts receivable department. As a charter member of Parkview Baptist Church, she had many lifelong relationships.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Carl Calame; her husband, Bob Hare; brothers Bud and CB Calame; sister Janelle Phillips; sons Cliff and Chris Hare; granddaughter Chrissy Hare; and daughter-in-law Tena Hare.
She is survived by her daughter April Atmar and husband David; son Bobby Hare and wife Gwenn; sister Judy Benson and husband Loyd; sister Jean "Sissy" Pendleton; grandchildren Lyndsey Wenninger and husband Jesse; Robby Hare and wife Jordan; Jesse Hare; Daniel Atmar; and Alyssa Rodriguez and husband Trevor. She also had five great-grandchildren: Mabel and Keaton Hare, Ben and Rhett Wenninger, and Dillon Johnson. She also loved her many nieces and nephews. Johnnie also enjoyed new friends at Meadowlake Retirement Village, especially her close friend, Patsy.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to director Lisa Winters and the staff at Meadowlake, the hospital nurses at SW Medical Center, Dr. Henry Allen and his nurse, Jamie, and many other doctors that helped to care for her.
Johnnie's care has been entrusted to Carter-Smart Funeral Directors. The family will receive visitors at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Carter-Smart Funeral Home on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 11:00 am with interment to follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery.
