Joel was born April 1, 1954, in Duncan Oklahoma, to his parents Joel "Mack" and Mary Frances "Fran" Stogner.
Joel graduated from SORC Hilltop School in Pauls Valley in 1975. He worked at the vocational school in the recycling portion of the shop shredding paper and distributing bags to designated areas. Since moving back home to Duncan in 2010, he had been a resident of the group home that is operated/owned by Think Ability, Inc. He was employed through the Power Shop doing janitorial work at a church and VFW until retiring in 2016.
Joel loved going to visit his Mom until she passed in 2017. He really loved the holidays. He liked going to parties and would actually dress up for Halloween. He surprised us all especially when he actually wore the wigs. He was always ready to decorate for the next holiday. He had finished Thanksgiving and then was ready for Christmas. He had just decorated for Christmas before his passing, he had picked out a new tree and decorated it "Joel's Way" with beautiful lights, stuffed Santa, Rudolph, and Frosty.
Survivors include an uncle, Robert "Butch" Yeilding and wife Virginia of Norman, Oklahoma.
Nieces: Renee Arias and husband Ruben of Amarillo,Texas, and Kimberly Rosinbaum and husband Ben, of Sanger Texas and a nephew: Cory Moore and wife Susannah of Pascagoula Mississippi, and many great nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beth Green.
The family would like to thank all of his caretakers throughout the years in Pauls Valley and here in Duncan at Think Ability. He lived a very full life thanks to all of you and we appreciate everything you all have done for Joel over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Joel's memory to Think Ability, Inc. 1301 West Main, Duncan Ok 73533.
