Jean Brooks Oakes Arnold Jean Brooks Oakes Arnold passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the age of 87
Jean was born in Richmond, Kentucky on September 9, 1936 to Alton Brooks Oakes and Iva Jean Todd Oakes. Jean graduated from Duncan High School in 1954. She attended Oklahoma A & M, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and majored in fashion merchandising. Jean married Thomas Hal Arnold, Jr. on May 17, 1958. They celebrated 66 years together this year.
Jean was a member of First Christian Church for 75 years, where she taught Sunday School and served as a deacon. She had a beautiful card ministry that brought joy and comfort to many. Jean was a homemaker and later worked with her husband in the family business. Jean loved and cared deeply for her family. Their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy. She is forever loved and always in our hearts.
Jean was predeceased by her parents and her brother that passed away at birth.
Jean is survived by her husband Tom, of the home; three children, Jeanna Russell and husband Brent, of Duncan, OK, Lynne Brooks Policastro and her husband Joseph of Scottsdale, AZ and Tom Arnold of Lawton, OK; two grandsons, Zachary Russell and wife Emily of Edmond, OK and Jacob Russell and wife Marni of Oklahoma City, OK; great granddaughters, Vivien Russell, Caroline Russell, Millie Russell, Bridget Russell, and Adeline Russell arriving in November.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Elk Crossing, Duncan Regional Hospital and Chisholm Trail Hospice for the excellent, loving care and compassion shown to Jean.
A graveside service for Jean will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 1:30 pm at the Duncan Cemetery, under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Stephens County Humane Society.
