Jannie was born in Lindsey, OK to Louis and Lucille Tate on September 25, 1948. She passed into her Heavenly home on August 30, 2026 at 11:30 pm in Marlow, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 11 months, 4 weeks, and 2 days.

Jannie went to Empire school through the 8th grade. Even though she didn’t have a lot of school years, she grew in life’s knowledge and skills beyond what school could teach.

When Jannie met Richard Howard, they fell in love and got married sometime after. This year, they celebrated 60 years of a loving marriage. To this union was born a little girl. Sadly, she only graced Earth with her presence for 2 hours. She then went on to that Heavenly home where she just got to join her mother and all the family before and after she got there.

Jannie was a hard worker, whether it was at her home or the years she worked for Gibsons Discount Center. She also cleaned house for a dear friend.

Jannie was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Lucille, and her infant daughter, Lois Annette.

She is survived by husband, Richard, as well as friends and family that loved her dearly.

Pallbearers will be Delayne Scarbrough, Jonas Scarbrough, Sam Carter, Stacy Morris, Mike Morris, and Travis Christian.

Her care has been entrusted to Carter-Smart Funeral Directors. Those that wish to pay their respects can do so at Carter-Smart Funeral Home until 8:00 pm, September 1, 2026. A graveside service will be held at Hope Cemetery in Marlow, Ok, on September 2, 2026, at 10:00 am.
