Grace Marion Walton Lane, 101, was born October 27, 1924, to James Bomer Walton and Bessie Lou Davis Walton in McPherson Township, just west of Comanche, OK. She is a graduate of Comanche High School. She passed from this life on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, in Edmond, OK.

Grace married the love of her life, Odes Clark Lane, in Duncan on June 14, 1943. They were married for five days when he returned to active duty overseas in WWII, and she didn't see him again for two years. They finally settled in Duncan where they raised their three children, Tonya Lane Coffman, Gerald Clark Lane, and Charles (Chuck) Harvel Lane.

After being employed by several local businesses, Grace went to work for the Duncan Police Dept. on May 15th, 1961 as a Juvenile Officer and in October of 1969, she transferred to the position of dispatcher for the morning shift. She retired from the Police Department on July 10th, 1985, in order to spend more time fishing and camping with Odes.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Odes, on May 11, 1991. Also, by her parents, James B. and Bessie L. Walton, her sisters, Thera Walton Lane, and Thelma Walton Brock, and her brother, Don Merlin Walton and their spouses.

She is survived by her three children, Tonya Coffman and husband Darrell, Gerald Lane and wife Nancy, and Chuck Lane and wife Lora. Also, grandchildren, Luther (Luke) Clark Lane and wife Rhonda, Robin Coffman Merrell and husband Brent, Audra Ruth Couch and husband Chris, Christopher Darrell Coffman and wife Lynn, and Olivia Grace Lane. Surviving great-grandchildren are Mannin Elizabeth Powell and husband Kenny, Mason Clark Lane, Alexandra

Ruth Smith and husband Tyler, Karson Elizabeth Merrell, Devinne Sierra Coffman, Taylor Kay Joyce and husband JP, Jack Odes Merrell, Skylar Dawn Coffman, Sophia Rosemary Lane, Hayden Rayne Coffman, and Samantha Renata Grace Lane.

Services for Grace will be Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastors Les Calger, who is a former fellow police officer, and Randy Southerland of New Hope Baptist Church of Duncan conducting. Pallbearers will be Brent Merrell, Jack Merrell, Luke Lane, Chris Coffman, Chris Couch, and Kenny Powell. They will be held at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel at 1316 W Oak, in Duncan, OK.
