Dorothy JoAnn Bumpas

Dorothy JoAnn Bumpas 68, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at her home with her family at her side.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Bethesda Church of God with Pastor Charles Bernard officiating, interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

The Family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

JoAnn was born November 28, 1949 in Enid, Oklahoma to Willis Marvin & Mary Louise " Gillispie" Bohannan she had been a resident of the Duncan area all of her life. She attended Duncan School and graduated from Duncan High School in 1968, she was a member of the Rt. 4 Church of God and was a Sunday School teacher for 40 plus years, JoAnn married Rick Bumpas June 11, 1972 in Duncan, Oklahoma, and to that union were born four children, Jimmy Don, Jennifer Dee, Jana Danielle and Julia, she was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her husband; Rick of the home, a son; Jimmy Bumpas and his children; Daisy, J.J. & Gavin Bumpas of Duncan, Oklahoma, Jennifer Luna and her children; Lane & Chancey Luna of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Jana and Bill  Bowen & their children; Kadynce, Julia & Wyatt Bowen of Duncan, Oklahoma, a great-grandchild; Kyzar, sisters; Mary & Ray Hartman of Walters, Oklahoma, Rita & Art Walls of Duncan, Oklahoma and a brother; Alfis & Joyce Bohannan of Duncan, Oklahoma.

JoAnn was preceded in death by a daughter; Julia and her parents; Willis Marvin & Mary Louise Bohannan and her mother & father-in-law.

Pallbearers will be Laymon Bernard, Keith Smith, Seth Bernard, Ethan Bernard, Phillip Bernard, Andrew Bernard. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Bowen and Jimmy Bumpas.
