Donald "Junior" Shipman, 71, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with his wife and beloved dog Sadie by his side on July 21,2024.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. July 25, 2024 at Ray of Hope Church with Rev. Mike McCord officiating, interment will follow at the Marlow Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
Family visitation will be Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Junior was born on January 20, 1953 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Donald Sr. & Barbara Shipman, he was a lifelong resident and a pillar in his community.
Junior graduated from Comanche High School in 1971 and dedicated 46 years of his career to Halliburton Services. He was known for his deep passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing, dove hunting, and bailing hay. Junior also had a love for motorsports,spending many of his summer Saturdays at the Lawton Speedway, where he enjoyed working on race cars and watching the races.
He is survived by his father; Donald Shipman Sr. of Comanche, Oklahoma, his loving wife of 36 years, Tammy Shipman of the home, his daughter; Cortney Claborn and her husband Shane of Lawton, Oklahoma, his son; David Shipman and his wife Caley of Duncan, Oklahoma, five grandchildren; Connor, Colton, Miley, Killian and Stella and his only sister; Kim Loughridge and her 3 boys of Duncan, Oklahoma.
Junior was preceded in death by his mother Barbara and his brother Ronnie.
Pallbearers will be Dale Bragg, Dub Downey, Kenny Anderson and Brian Stogseill.
Juniors life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, as a devoted family man, a passionate enthusiast of the outdoors, and a loyal friend.
