April 15, 1940 – January 27, 2023
We are saddened to announce the passing of our Dad, Dalton Ray Hastey, Sr., 82 of Roanoke, Texas, on Friday, January 27, 2023, in Granbury, Texas surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. F. Ray Ledbetter officiating. Interment will be at the Duncan Cemetery. Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m., February 4, 2023 at Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Dalton was born April 15, 1940 in Rule, Texas in Haskell County, to Orren Walker Hastey and Oleta Bass Hastey. Dalton married Laura Ann Hadley on August 27, 1960 in Duncan, Oklahoma. They were married 50 years before her death in June 2011. They moved to Texas in 1963 where his first job in Texas was at Texacome. In 1966, he started working at General Motors and worked there for 30 years until retiring in 1996.
His hobbies included golfing, traveling, attending/coaching his children in sporting events and later watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren's extracurricular activities and country/western dancing. He was a lifelong fan of all Oklahoma Sooners sports, and most recently, became a big fan of the TCU Horned Frogs! He also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. Most of all, he loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them! He was kindhearted and had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include daughter, Selana Hastey Purvis and husband James of Granbury, Texas; sons, Dalton Ray Hastey, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona and Brian Keith Hastey of Roanoke, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Purvis of Granbury, Texas, Wes Purvis and wife Kaci of San Antonio, Texas and Samantha Hastey of Phoenix, Arizona; great grandchildren, Maddie, Abby, Lilly and Laken; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leon Hastey and Harold Keith Hastey; sisters, Bonnie Callaway, Ozella Cox, Ann Belcher and Sue Cummings.
Pallbearers will be Wes Purvis, Jered Johnson, Timmy Cox, Larry Spangler, Ryan Spangler and Rustin Spangler.
Dalton will remain in our hearts and minds forever and will be sorely missed until we meet again in Heaven.
