Clairece Ruth (Shorter) Hutto

Clairece Ruth Hutto 91, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Elk Crossing Nursing Home with her family at her side.

Private Family services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel, with Family officiating, interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Clariece was born in Stephens County at Gas City, Oklahoma to Jess & Ruby (Brooks) Shorter on September 21, 1933. She went to Empire High School and graduated in 1951. She married Alton G. Hutto on January 11, 1952. She went to work at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She then worked at Montgomery Wards as a cashier. She worked in records and supply for Halliburton from 1965 until she retired in 1986. She was raised at Banner Assembly of God Church and worked with her husband in his ministry.

She leaves behind her beloved husband; Alton Hutto, her beloved daughter; Sharon and son-in-law Kent Arrington, and a daughter-in-law Sandie Hutto, she leaves behind the following grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild. Michelle, Brian and Weston Spurgin, Kevin and Adrianne Arrington, LeeAnn, Jeffrey and Booker Bowers, Cory, Kristina, Nickolas, Kayleigh and Logan Hutto, Jarrod, Elizabeth, Anna, and Andrew Hutto, Chase, Liz, Aden and Easten Hutto, Kristen, Jacob, Jacob Jr. Reyna and Ethan Nehl, Reba, Chris, Whitley, Blakely, Emmley, Julie and Lucas Ezzell, a brother-in-law; Kenneth Brooks, and a sister-in-law; Carolyn Shorter also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Jess and Ruby Shorter. Her son; Timothy Mark Hutto, Her great-grandson, Kody Wes Arrington. Her brothers; Marion, Wayne, Roy and David Shorter, her sisters; Jewell Dessinger and Delores Brooks.

Pallbearers will be Grandson's.
