Cecile Russell

Cecile Russell passed away from this life at the age of 93 in Southaven, Mississippi on Saturday, June 17, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 with Rev. Jerry Couch officiating.

Cecile was born January 28, 1924 in Durant, Oklahoma to Henry and Vivian Pierce. She married Cecil Russell, the love of her life, on January 15, 1942. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2008. She manager beauty supplies for 14 years in Odessa and Midland, Texas before retiring and moving to Duncan, Oklahoma. She was an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church and worked as kitchen manager which she loved.

Survivors include one daughter; Cecilia Gordon, great-granddaughter; Brooke Turner and Matt Myrick of Memphis, Tenn. and great grandson; Brandon Bumpas. Cecile is also survived by one great-great grandchild Kylen Turner of Memphis, Tenn. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two grandchild; Natalie Lowe-Walker and Nick Lowe.

Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma, under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may made to Highland Park Baptist Church, 1302 South 10th. in Duncan or to the Stephens County Humane Society.
