James W. Tidwell
James W. Tidwell 88, of Comanche, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton with his family at his side.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Comanche, Oklahoma,with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating, interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
James was born August 19, 1929 in Empire, Oklahoma to L.W. & Katy Mae (Brown) Tidwell, he was a graduate of Empire High School graduating in 1948, he was drafted into the United States Army serving during the Korean War, he was a member of the American Legion in Comanche and the First Baptist Church in Comanche. James worked in the oilfields and for Tosco Refinery and retired from Hess Oil in Seminole, Texas. James and Rosa Lee were married in February of 1949 in Henrietta, Texas and had been married for 69 years. He was well known in the Stephens County live stock show ring and spent over 40 years dedicated to helping the Comanche 4-H & FFA programs. He spent 2 tenures on the County Fair Board and was the superintendent of the sheep show and a honorary member of the 4-H and FFA and was honored in 2012 for his many years of service to the Fair Board.
James is survived by his wife; Rosa Lee of the home in Comanche, a son; Rick Tidwell of Comanche, Oklahoma, daughters; Sheila Bradley & her husband Robert of Houston, Texas and Karen Silcott, and a granddaughter; Sahara Bradley.
James was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Pallbearers will be nephews; Clifford Randell, Mike Tidwell, Jeff Tidwell, Michael White, Joe Best and Jerry Boydston. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Tidwell, Jeff Best and Ray Sawyers.
Military Honors will be provided by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
