Iva "Bernice" Cooley, 92 of Duncan, Oklahoma finished her journey on Earth and entered Heaven on Saturday, July 22, 2017 with her family at her side.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Gospel Beams Church with Rev. F. Ray Ledbetter and Rev. Randy Southerland officiating, interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma, arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Bernice was born in Stephens County, Oklahoma on July 7, 1925, she was one of 12 children born to Wesley and Dorothy (Farmer) Wright. She lived the majority of her life in Stephens County. She was considered the pillar of her family and her strong faith in Christ was an example to all that knew her. Bernice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, she married Carl Cooley and to this union was born four girls; Phyllis, Darlene, Ladonna and Rhonda, Carl preceded her in death in August of 1995.
Survivors include daughters; Phyllis Williams & the late Bryan Williams of Duncan, Oklahoma, Darlene Pratt & her husband Buck of Comanche, Oklahoma, Ladonna Shults & her husband Jack of Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma, Rhonda Beck & her husband Steve of Edmond, Oklahoma, brothers; Jerry Wright of Duncan, Oklahoma and Floyd Wright of Duncan, Oklahoma, sisters; Elizabeth Szczytko of New Jersey, Goldie Tomilison of Duncan, Oklahoma and Nita Fields of Houston, Texas, grandchildren; Gary Williams, Kathy Jackson, Jeff Pratt, Tracie Baker, Michael Pratt, Shelby Beck and Madison Beck, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; Wesley & Dorothy Wright, her husband; Carl Cooley, 1 grandchild; Shelia Williams, 2 great-grandchildren, 5 brothers and a sister.
Pallbearers will be Gary Williams, Jeff Pratt, Michael Pratt, Daniel Baker, Jeff Wright, Carlos Roberson, Larry Wright and Steve Wright.
