Hal Austin Huffman
Hal Austin Huffman 63, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 at his home in Duncan.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 at Fairlawn Cemetery with Rev. Matt Chambers officiating, interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Hal was born November 7, 1956 at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas, to Charles and Betty Jo (George) Huffman he graduated from Pasadena High School and from college with a B.S. Degree. Hal was an amateur auto mechanic before becoming certified, so he could teach what he loved. H began working on vehicles in his young teens. Out of high school, Hal worked for Houston Lighting and Power on their heavy equipment of line building and maintenance field trucks. He moved to Crystal City, Texas where he earned his BS in auto repair. He taught auto mechanics at Crystal City ISD. He moved to Oklahoma to be near his parents, he worked at Ft. Sill on large vehicles used by the U.S. Army in Iraq. He later worked at Family Dollar distribution center for several years until the many years of working on heavy equipment affected his health.
Hal and Juanita "Eva" Gutierrez married April 8, 2009 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She preceded him in death July 2018. No children were born to this union.
Hal is survived by his mother; Betty J. Huffman of Duncan, Oklahoma, his daughter; Brenda Griffin and husband Joe of Duncan, Oklahoma, grandson; Angel and nephew Donald Huffman Jr., helped him tremendously during this year of his life, during his many illnesses. He is also survived by his only sister; Vicki Gill (Eddie) of Duncan, Oklahoma. Two brothers; William D. Huffman, Sr.,(Shirley) of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Tommy D. Huffman, Sr. (Juliet) of Katy, Texas. Nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren an abundances of nieces and nephews, in addition to his many, many friends. He will be deeply missed by all.
Hal was also preceded in death by his father, a brother, Donald Huffman Sr., his paternal grandparents, Charles V. Huffman, Sr. and Julia; his maternal grandparents, Roy George and Gritchen Diehl.
Bearers will be William Huffman Sr., Donald Huffman Jr., Joe Griffin, Angel Belmarez, Joel Ferreira and Justin Espinosa.
