Gladys Bernice Humphries
Gladys Bernice Johnson Humphries passed away December 18, 2018 at the age of 103. Gladys was the daughter of the late Joe Edna & Wesley Johnson. She was born on December 1, 1915 in Tucker, Oklahoma in Stephens County, Oklahoma.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, with Jenny Skiles officiating, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Gladys graduated from Comanche High School in 1933 and attended Cosmetology School in Oklahoma City and later Business School. Gladys retired in 1981 from the Oklahoma Tax Commission - Sales Tax Division. She was an active member of The Village Baptist Church for many years. Gladys, known to her family as "Mumu", was a happy person who enjoyed playing cards, singing in the Sr. Adult Choir and spending time with her many friends and family. She loved telling stories of growing up on the farm with her siblings. Gladys enjoyed traveling and had visited 49 of the 50 states and a few foreign countries. She was very creative and a wonderful seamstress who could make anything.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Doyle, Winston and Lester Johnson, sisters; Pauline Lewis and Sylvia Chitwood.
She is survived by her daughter; Roylin Cole of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, grandsons; Brett Cole and wife Traci of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Greg Cole and his wife Vivi of The Woodlands, Texas and great-grandchildren; Wesley and Whitney Cole of Dallas, Texas, Emily Cole and Matthew Perry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mumu was loved by her friends and family and will be greatly missed.
