Clyde B. Walton

     Clyde B. Walton, 97, formerly of Duncan, passed away on November 4, 2019 ,at Brookdale Edmond Santa Fe Senior Living in Edmond, Oklahoma.

     Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Duncan. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma with Rev. Don T. Johnson of Tulsa officiating, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

     The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

     Clyde was born July 17, 1922, on the school quarter in Stephens County near Comanche, Oklahoma to Henry and Vallie (Spurlin) Walton. He graduated from Comanche High School and attended college at Cameron University and the University of Oklahoma. Clyde was an Army Air Corp pilot on World War II serving in Italy with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

     On August 31, 1946, at the Meridian Baptist Church, Clyde married the love of his life, Doranne Giltner, and they shared a remarkable and blessed 66 years together. After traveling a few years and flying for the pipeline, they returned to rural Stephens County, built a home and raised their family. He worked for Sun Oil Company for many years as a chief operator until the plant closed. He was a rancher, avid quail hunter and loved living and working on his land. Clyde was a very active member of the First Baptist Church, Duncan, where he served as a Deacon and a greeter until his health declined. He along with Doranne served Campers on Missions throughout the United States, and he served as Oklahoma state president. They also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and Clyde worked with Nail Benders as well.

     Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Burty Walton, his sister, Mabel Mundy, and his wife, Doranne, who died December 2, 2012.

    He is survived by three children: Debbie Lane (Buzz) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Barbara Lane (Danny) of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Ronnie Walton (Paula) of Tomball, Texas; Seven grandchildren; Natalie Lane of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Nathan Lane of Sherman Oaks, California, David Lane (Mayra) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Nicholas Lane of Hollywood, California, Cassie Walton of Houston, Texas, Jonathan Lane (Kim) of Pilot Point, Texas and Katie Walton Jones (Stephen) of Cypress, Texas; two great-grandchildren Emery and Shepard Lane of Edmond, Oklahoma; and nieces, Linda Suffridge (Derald) of Duncan, Oklahoma, Donna (Clinton) Cole of Grove, Oklahoma, Mickey Beck (Robert) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Linda Orum (Jim) of The Woodlands, Texas and Nelda Walton Wilson of Houston, Texas.  

     His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

     The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Edmond Santa Fe Senior Living for their steadfast care, love and concern for Dad his last two years. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Falls Creek Baptist Conference Center, 6714 Ok-77d, Davis, Oklahoma 73030.

     Military Honors will be provided by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
