Roy R. Wharton

Roy R. Wharton 75, of Ardmore, Oklahoma formally of Duncan, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore.

Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the Duncan Cemetery with Rev. David Gardner and Rev. Curtis Calvery officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 18, 2024 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Roy was born December 28, 1948 in Comanche, Oklahoma to Billy Duane & Marjorie (Brown) Wharton, he attended Duncan Schools and graduated from Duncan High School in 1967, he entered the U.S. Army in May of 1968 and did basic training at Ft. Polk, La. He served in Kore until he was discharge from the U.S. Army in May of 1970, Roy worked for Michelin Tire Company in Ardmore until his retirement in 2003 after 31 years. He married Margaret Gayle Willmon on April 8, 1982 in Lone Grove, Oklahoma. 

Survivors include his wife; Gayle of the home, a son; Roy D. Wharton & his wife Blenda of Ardmore, grandchildren; Madison & Cody Moody, Eli Wharton, Jessica & Laurence Corliss, Journie & Jarod Gaither, Rory Austin & Brooklyn Corliss, a brother; Billy W. Wharton & his wife Candace of Colorado, nieces; Kimberly Wharton McAuliffe & Tim, Michele Wharton Kelly & Eric.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; Billy D. & Marjorie Wharton and a sister; Nancy Ann Montgomery.

Pallbearers will be Family & Friends.

Military Honors will be provided by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
