     Zelma Faye Prewett 99, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Wilkins Nursing Center.

     Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 at Immanuel Baptist Church, with Rev. Jack Robbins officiating, interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

     The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

     Zelma was born December 3, 1919 in Hughes County near Allen, Oklahoma to Herbert Clyde & Robbie Lee (Cox) Nickell, she attended country schools around Allen and in Allen, Oklahoma. She was the 6th. child and 1st. daughter born in a family of 14 children. She was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was11 years old, at the age of 22 she heard a sermon on repentance of her sins and realized that she had never asked God to forgive her of her sins, this was when she had really excepted Jesus into to her life. She worked with 4th, 5th, and 6th year old children in Sunday School and many for years in the Nursery and Cradle Roll at Immanuel Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1953, on November 22, 2009 the Historical Commission of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, Zelma was a awarded a Certificate for who had held the Longest Continuous Membership in Immanuel Baptist Church. Zelma married J.D. Prewett August 30, 1936 and in 1952 they were blessed with 2 precious children; Glenda Fern and Nolan D. and they moved to Duncan in March of 1948. J.D. preceded her in death on November 22, 1990.

     Zelma is survived by her daughter; Glenda Nelson of Waco, Texas and she was preceded in death by her son; Nolen Prewett, she is also survived by her sisters; Aquella Lee of Sublette, Kansas and Ruby Dean Walker of Arlington, Texas and a brother; Gerald Nickell of Johnson, Kansas, 3 grandchildren; Jennifer Mayes, David Nelson and Jesse Nelson, 5 great-grandchildren; Derick Wylie, Christopher Wylie, Bladen & Zane Mayes and Jacob Edward Nelson and numerous nieces and nephews.  

     Zelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; J.D. Prewett, a son: Nolen Prewett and 10 brother and sisters.

     Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
