     S. Ray Chambers Sr. left to be with his savior on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 82 years of age.

     Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Morgan officiating, interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery, arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

     Ray was born November 1, 1934 in Temple, Oklahoma, to O.H. and Lema Chambers. Ray was the second of four children. He was a farmhand on the family farm until joining the U.S. Navy in 1951. He served in the Korean Conflict onboard a destroyer the "USS Collett DD-730" until 1955 as Petty Officer Third Class. Ray came to Duncan 1957, he met  Donna Ruth Hill (Wininger) in April and was united in marriage August 30, 1957 in Duncan at the Plato Baptist Church and to marriage were born two sons; Richard Dean Chambers, born July 30,1958 and S. Ray Chambers Jr. (deceased in 1961). Ray worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 31 years, retiring in 1986. Ray was an enthusiast of many things, especially flying. After earning his pilot license, he started flying for the Civil Air Patrol searching for downed aircraft and enjoyed being a private pilot flying with his friends, especially his son Richard. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, model trains, CB and Ham radio (WD5JTA, silent key) and had a love for tractors. Out of all his toys that came along, his most favorite was his grandson Justin that he loved very much.

     Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years; Donna Ruth of the home, a son; Richard Dean and his wife Kathy Chambers of Duncan, a grandson; Justin Ray and his wife Tracey Chambers of Duncan, two sisters; Jeannie Davis of Temple, Oklahoma and Carol Waller & her husband Dave of McCloud, Oklahoma and many loved nephews and nieces.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, O.H. & Lema Chambers, an infant son; S. Ray Chambers Jr. and a brother; Keith W. Chambers and a brother-in-law Harold Davis.  

     Family member will serve as pallbearers.
