Everlyne Morgan Obituary

Everlyne Morgan

Everlyne Morgan (mom, Lyn, Nana) was carried on the wings of angels to be with our Lord February 1, 2018 surrounded by her children and family.

She was born Everlyne Zella Jones on October 28, 1926 in Comanche, Oklahoma. She graduated from Comanche High School where she played French horn in the band. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, L.D. Morgan, and after getting married on June 19, 1945, they raised a family, traveled from coast to coast, and were together until his passing in 2004. She emphasized always do your best at any job and she modeled that from her first job as a soda jerk in Woodward Drug Store (Comanche) to work in a lab at Sunray Refinery and continued to climb all the way up to being the co-owner of Morgan Products in Shreveport, La. In 1980, the Oil & Gas Marketing News named her, her son, Randy, and husband, LD, as the third largest company in North Louisiana after laying the foundation for a very successful crude/LPG marketing company.

Everlyne was not only a very successful business woman; she was also like Martha Stewart when it came to entertaining and decorating her home for the holidays. After working a full day and tucking kids into bed, she would stay up well into the night ironing her daughter's dresses that she loving made. Christmas was her favorite holiday and nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, singing songs, playing charades, and participating in the world famous Morgan Family Talent Shows over the years. Besides her love of books and writing and music, she was an active stock wiz and could shoot craps like the pros. She and LD were part of a close group of friends called "The Yellow Bird Group" who loved to travel and take turns hosting dinners that lasted well into the early morning laughing and dancing. They loved Vegas and a favorite pastime was betting on the horses at Louisiana Downs.

Her greatest love was her family. She and LD loved to take their children and grandchildren on numerous trips to Hawaii and enjoyed being able to take the grandkids to Walt Disney World over the years.

Survivors include her brother; Lawrence and his wife Hester of Duncan, Oklahoma with their children; Larry Jones and Laura Britt (Randy), her daughters; Adonna Meyer and husband Stewart of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kathleen Holton and her husband Dile of Shrewbury, MA. Sandra Wilson of Denton, Texas, son; Randy Morgan and his wife Nikki of Coppell, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Beau, Monica (Jon-Scott), Haley (Matt), Trey (Amanda), Kaci (John), Chris, Morgan (Mike), Cassie, Nick, Zack, Michael, Ashley and great-grandchildren; Adolin, Jones, Beaudyn, Etta, Dorian, Arya, and Ellis ( and many great-grandchildren to come).

She was grace, beauty, elegance, she was matriarch extraordinaire, she was a role model, a legacy, she was the umbrella of love and strength that will shelter our family forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Addie Mae and Donald W. Jones, and her husband; LD Morgan.
