Doris L. (Kirby) Williamson

     Doris Williamson of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away on May 22, 2017 at Gregston Nursing Home in Marlow, Oklahoma.

     Doris was born January 25, 1923 to Clovy and Cloe (Salter) Kirby at their home 4 miles southeast of Terral, Oklahoma in Fleetwood, Oklahoma. Doris graduated from Terral High School in 1940 and went onto attend college in Denton, Texas. She married Howard Williamson on July 26, 1941 in Terral, Oklahoma. Doris was employed with Civil Service War Dept. in Ft. Worth, Texas and later took a job with the engineering dept. of Consolidated Aircraft. She was not employed outside of the home for the next 17 years, and took the next job with the City of Duncan in the building inspection and engineering Dept. for 11 years. After retirement she served on the Election Board for 20 years and also volunteered at Duncan Regional Hospital for approx.. 20 years. She was also a 60 year member of the Oklahoma Order of the Eastern Star.

     After many moves with Mobil Oil Company they landed in Duncan in 1958 and their raised their two children. After retirement in 1982, Doris and Howard had the pleasure of traveling extensively about the world near and far. Also farming and ranching on the family farm in Terral.

     Doris was preceded in death by her husband; Howard Williamson, parents; Clovy and Cloe Kirby, a brother; C.C. Kirby, sisters; Madge Jones, and Zionzell Johnson, and a grandson-in-law; Jason VanOven.

     Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law; Gary and Cheryl Williamson, a daughter and son-in-law; Gretchen and James White. Four grandchildren; Kirby and Kasie Williamson, Shelly and husband Scott Schuttloffel, Richmond White and Andrea VanOven and six great-grandchildren; Chloe and Clara Williamson, Krista Baker, Branson Clark and Tyler and Baylee VanOven.
